Everyone has heard the saying: “The older I get, the wiser my father becomes”. First of all, my earthly father (Rev Frank Poland) was a minister.
From my youth, I can still hear my Mom continually encouraging my Dad (which is a polite way of putting it) to buy new clothes. This was not a one time thing. It happened time after time after time. Ten years after my father’s death, as I was viewing some old family pictures, it suddenly occurred to me why my Mom pressured my Dad about buying clothes. I went to Mom to confirm my suspicion and ask the question…..”Why did you continually stay onto Dad about his clothes”. She said: “Son, your Dad was a faithful prayer warrior and he continued to wear the knees of his pants thread bare. His clothes were always like new, except for the knees and they were always worn through”. Wow! That was what I noticed in the picture which I displayed on this page. I only wish I had been wise enough to have realized and shared my Dad’s prayer life when I was younger. The older I get, the wiser my father becomes.
Additionally, 29 years ago, in 1980, I recorded a song that was one of my Dad’s favorites. He died one year after I recorded ‘My Room Of Prayer’(1981). I now know why that song was even more special to Him. I apologize for the poor quality as this was an 8-Track Tape recording which I tried to salvage just for this website. If you would like to listen to my Dad’s favorite song, click on the link below. Terry Bradshaw, former quarterback of the Pittsburg Steelers, also recorded this song approx 12 years past, the only other recording I have heard of ‘My Room Of Prayer’. And ‘YES’, Terry Bradshaw has a beautiful singing voice to the surprise of many. He also recorded a gospel album. That fact ‘WOWS’ many people.
